Dear Friend:
My name is Jud Pierce. I write to announce my candidacy for School Committee and tell you a little bit about myself.
I am married to a wonderful woman named Laura and together we are happily raising two young children ages 5 and 2. Laura and I moved to Arlington seven years ago. We chose this town because of all of its positive traits including, more specifically, its great school system for when we were ready to start a family. Amazingly, five years went quickly and my oldest is now in kindergarten at the Bishop School. We have fourteen years of public school education ahead of us. And I want to do my part to help ensure that the Arlington School System remains strong for all our children.
Together we stand at a crossroads and I know that together we will choose the right path. What is at stake is extremely important not only to Laura and me but to all of us in our community; the future of our children’s education.
I promise over the course of the campaign you will learn more about me and my ideas should I be elected to the School Committee. What you should know from the start, however, is that my campaign is built upon a set of CORE values that comprise who I am as a person. They include the following:
- Commitment to finding new and innovative ways to protect and enrich our school system within the constraints of our budget situation
- Openness to listening and deliberating all sides of an issue and building consensus
- Respect for all who live in our wonderful community
- Educating the entire child through not only our mainstay academic programs but by protecting the rich arts and athletic programs that the Arlington schools encompass
I am ready for the challenge and hope to earn your vote and trust through my hard work and willingness to listen to you. I welcome open discussion and communication between our town government, our public employees and our citizens.
Please join me at my campaign kick-off party at the home of Jane Biondi (Thompson PTO President) 50 Wyman Street from 1:00-3:00pm on Saturday February 27, 2010. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you so much,
Judson Pierce |
